Bayer Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso eyeing Barcelona target

Girona captain and orchestrator Aleix Garcia has not gone unnoticed over the last two seasons. While Barcelona’s interest is well-documented, he is attracting admiring glances elsewhere too.

Not least from Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, which is a significant complement for a midfielder. According to Matteo Moretto, links between the two are a reality, and Leverkusen have been keeping an eye on him for some time. However they are yet to make a decisive move for the 26-year-old, and a deal is not expected to happen imminently.

Many teams are eyeing a loan deal for Vitor Roque, with interest from Spain and abroad. His agent, André Cury, has ties to Manchester United and other English clubs. Garcia has expressed his desire to play for Barcelona in the past, and the Blaugrana have admitted interest in the playmaker, but he has thought to have slipped down their list of priorities. This season he has operated often as the deepest midfielder for Girona, but last season, played as a more creative presence. The Blaugrana are believed to be keen on a more natural defensive presence at the base of midfield.
