The Detroit Pistons have signed veteran forward/center Taj Gibson to a 10-day contract, the team announced.
Gibson, 38, signed with the New York Knicks on Dec. 14 and was waived a month later. He’s an interesting pickup by the Pistons, a young and struggling team that’s in rebuild mode.
He was waived by the Washington Wizards in October, following a run with the Knicks from 2019-22. Gibson has appeared in 945 career games overall, also serving stints with the Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Last season, he appeared in 49 games with Washington and averaged 3.4 points and 1.9 rebounds.
Detroit (9-52) shares the NBA’s worst record with the Wizards entering Wednesday’s games.
