Minor League Report: Addison Barger hit his fifth home run of the season, Dunedin have won four in a row, and more!

Andrew Bash made the start, finishing with a line of 3.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K to bring his season ERA to 4.45. Bowden Francis made his second rehab appearance, striking out a batter and walking one in two innings and one third. Hagen Danner picked up the save, striking out two batters in his inning of work.

The second game didn’t go as well, as the Rochester Red Wings defeated Buffalo 2-1. However, this game saw a home run for the Bisons as Addison Barger hit his fifth home run of the season, one of just four hits in the game. He also had a single, as did Leo Jimenez and Will Robertson.

Paolo Espino made the start and finished with a line of 5.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K to bring his season ERA to 4.32. The other pitcher in this game was Hayden Juenger, who allowed a hit but held Rochester scoreless for two thirds of an inning.

New Hampshire moved up a spot in the standings with a win

On Saturday, New Hampshire won their game 8-3, moving their record to 16-21 which is good enough for fifth best in the Eastern League Northeast division.

Alan Roden hit his second home run in four games, his fourth of the season. Josh Kasevich and Phil Clarke also had extra-base hits, as they both had doubles. Although the Fisher Cats scored eight runs, there were only six hits in the evening, with Clarke, Gabriel Martinez, and Garrett Spain all hitting a single.

With that being said, the Fisher Cats had 11 walks, as Roden, Riley Tirotta, and Miguel Hiraldo all had two walks. Kasevich, Clarke, Martinez, Spain, and Andres Sosa walked one, while Michael Turconi was hit by a pitch.

Michael Dominguez had the start, finishing with a line of 5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K with a home run given up. Hunter Gregory picked up the win, pitching two clean innings with three strikeouts. Jimmy Burnette and Eric Pardinho both pitched clean innings with a strikeout.

Vancouver lost both of their games in the doubleheader

On Saturday, the Vancouver Canadians lost both games of their doubleheader, one a 7-6 loss, and the other a 17-1 loss. The only thing worth mentioning for the second game is that Dasan Brown had a multi-hit game and a double.

However, the first game was a lot more interesting and competitive. All three players at the bottom of the lineup had multi-hit games, as Dylan Rock and Glenn Santiago both had two-hit games with a double, while Jaden Rudd had two singles and a walk. Other players with a hit were Jace Bohrofen, Nick Goodwin, and Jackson Hornung.

Rafael Ohashi carried a 0 ERA coming into this game, but finished with a line of 2.1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K to bring his season ERA to a respectable 1.53. Justin Kelly pitched an inning and two thirds and gave up an earned run, while Carson Pierce was tagged with the loss, giving up two earned runs in two innings and a third pitched. Anders Tolhurst was tagged with the blown save, giving up the walk-off hit.

Dunedin has won four in a row

Don’t look now, but the Dunedin Blue Jays are on a roll. On Saturday, they defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads 4-2 to bring their season record to 18-20.

Surprisingly, the team only had three hits, as Cristian Feliz finished with the only extra-base hit – a double. Victor Arias and Jean Joseph also had singles. The team also walked six times, with Manuel Beltre and Daniel Pérez each walking twice, while Arias and Alexis Hernandez each walked once.

Pitching was strong for the Dunedin Blue Jays. Nolan Perry made the start and finished with a line of 2.2 P, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K to bring his season ERA to 1.29. Yondrei Rojas was the first out of the pen, walking and striking out three batters in his inning and a third pitched, along with giving up a run. Keiner Leon pitched a clean inning.

Jordan Powell struck out two while giving up an earned run in his inning of work. Irv Carter walked two and struck out two in his two innings of work, while also picking up the win. Eliander Alcalde struck out two in a clean inning of work for the save.

FCL Jays fell 6-2

The Florida Complex League Blue Jays played off against the FCL Yankees, falling 6-2 to bring their record to 3-7.

Maykel Minoso hit his first professional home run after a three-hit performance on Friday. This turned out to be the team’s only extra-base hit, but Sam Shaw, Carlos Vasquez, and Gregori Cano had singles as well. It is worth mentioning that Enmanuel Bonilla struck out three times in four at bats.

Cristopher Castro had a strong start, striking out six over four one-hit innings. Jorge Guerra allowed two earned runs while walking and striking out a batter in his inning of work. Felipe Bello was tagged with the blown save and the loss, finishing with a line of 2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER (4 R), 1 BB, 2  K, while Julio Ortiz struck out a batter in his inning of work.
